For years, I was the high-achieving CrossFit athlete who trained three hours a day, six days a week. Fitness gave me purpose, clarity, and control. I went from trainee to gym owner. I was strong. Driven. Resilient.

I didn’t burn out because I wasn’t disciplined enough.

I burned out because I built my identity around discipline.

Then life cracked open.

Divorce. A cross-country move. Emotional choas.

And instead of slowing down, I doubled down.

More training. More work. More control.

From the outside, I looked high-functioning, but internally, I was unraveling.

My breaking point wasn’t subtle:
Insomnia.
Adult acne.
The onset of extreme anxiety.
Daytime fatigue was so heavy I could barely think clearly.

My digestion was off. My cycles were irregular. I didn’t feel at home in my own body anymore.

And like so many women, I was told everything looked “normal.”

So I did what high-achieving women do.

I tried harder. Cleaner eating. More structure. More supplements. More intensity.

But the harder I pushed, the worse my body responded.

It finally became clear: this wasn’t a discipline problem.

It was a stress and dysfunction problem.

Discovering functional health changed everything. For the first time, I learned how to look at the body strategically — not symptom by symptom, but as a connected system. I began mapping timelines, uncovering hidden stressors, and understanding how trauma, hormones, gut health, and nervous system function were all intertwined.

I didn’t just heal my symptoms. I recalibrated my relationship with control.

I stopped overtraining. I stopped obsessively tracking. I shifted toward regulation instead of domination.

And my body responded.

That transformation led me to become a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® Practitioner (FDN-P) and create AWAKN Wellness.

Today, I specialize in helping high-performing women in their 30s and beyond — especially moms and professionals who carry everything for everyone — restore energy, calm inflammation, fix stubborn gut and hormone issues, and feel like themselves again.
